Ride at full throttle for a little bit, then shut off the engine and coast to a stop. Then remove the spark plug and take a look. If there are white deposits present, you aren't burning enough gasoline (lean mixture). This can cause the engine to overheat and fail prematurely.
Check wiring to starter. If you assume it's the wiring grab 2 wires and touch the possitive to possitive on battery and starter and do the nagatives. If the starter works it's the wiring if it doesn't then it's the starter. If you have checked all wiring and still nothing take battery to oriellys to get tested.

hi, its all in the CDI. older style (up to 07 iirc) had a flat spot at 6000rpm to meet emissions regs, that could be removed by cutting away part of the CDI casing & snipping a bit off the pcb. newer bikes have different CDI, which need a hole drilled through a specific part of CDI, this completes the de-restriction process by letting the pv Joined: 24 Aug 2006. You also you need to unscrew the servo motor to get in (see below). When you get this pipe off you will see the intake plate restrictor (see below). Take the screws off and pull the restrictor out, then reassemble the connection from the carburetter to the engine, and reattach the servo motor. Now you need to upjet.

Hi It is only the last couple of years where the exhausts have been a bit shit. The flat spot caused by the cdi unit is massive. The bikes generally have difficulty pulling through it in any gear. Depends if it is a 4t or 2t. I have an LX50 4t. BEfore de-restricting it did about 50km/hr. Now it is derestricted and it does about 65km/hour. That's enough for me, since I only ride around towns where the speed limit is 50km/hr. I had my dealer do the de-restricting. But what they told me they did is the following: larger jet in the carb.
